LETTERS FROM CAMARILLO

In the outsider arts you are always far apart
The stalemate of hearts, more endings than starts
The thoughts are insane they echo in your brain
You can drink them away or find a needle and pray

He died in a trailer and bled out through the floor
Talking like a sailor bet he's seen all this before
A prospecter, bootlegger, illustrated man
Now he's one with the water and one with the sand

His scars were a living, his body misgivings
A charity pot pissed in, it almost seemed fitting
Gravel on his tongue, forever on the run
Acrobat with a gun, becoming undone

He died in a trailer and bled out through the floor
Talking like a sailor bet he's seen all this before
A prospecter, bootlegger, illustrated man
Now he's one with the water and one with the sand

Letters from Camarillo, I began my second life
Goodbye smooth sailing, hello drugs and strife
It's all music buried, and dug back up to scare me
My wives were temporary, these poems are my canary

The noise was a lover, my words were undercover
Friends with the gutter, in lust with one another
The future rubbed shoulders, they all ran me over
A decade of sober, then permanent closure

I died in a trailer and bled out through the floor
Talking like a sailor know I've seen all this before
A prospecter, bootlegger, illustrated man
Now I'm one with the water and one with the sand
